Meet Your Instructor
Hi! I’m Sarah, born and raised on Southern California. I teach lessons anywhere from LA to SD. I’ve spent all of my life in the ocean and have been a longboard surfer for 15 years (and counting).
Learning how to surf can be so intimidating. Supporting students’ safety and comfortability in the ocean is the first step to building wave riding skills. Lessons with me will teach you not only how to surf but how to understand the motion of the ocean.
I come to teaching with humor, curiosity, and a lot of patience.
Shoot me an email via the button at the top of my website or fill out the form here. I’ll reach out to you for a brief intro and then, I’ll come to you! Equipment is not provided, must have your own surfboard.
I teach lessons anywhere from LA county to SD county and will make recommendations on which beaches/breaks are most inviting for your skill level.
Email me and we can figure out where to meet and get you paddling out.

Be an observer: We will always spend 20-30 minutes watching the motion of the ocean, building familiarity with the waves and the current swell
Easy does it: We don’t have to move fast. Not ready to stand up? All good! We can practice paddling and feeling into buoyancy. I want to build sustainable skills for the long haul, not just a quick pic of your one wave to send home to mom (but we can make that happen too…)!
Awareness: Eventually, I’ll push you into waves or watch you paddle in solo (pending skill level). We’ll compare and contrast each wave from the last. Once we catch enough waves, you’ll start to notice what feels right for you. With awareness of what works and what doesn’t, you’ll be catching your own waves in no time!
